For Authors

Who can submit articles on this portal?

You can submit an article on this portal if you are one of the authors. If you are not one of the authors, you must be able to show that the authors have transferred the copyright to you by submitting a scanned copy of the copyright form when asked to do so during article submission.

What are your charges?

We charge an article-processing fee of GBP 25.00 per article.We have also recently launched a premium paid service for authors who would like us to upload articles on their behalf. The charges for premium service are GBP 50.00. Our editors are able to publish 3 articles at 50% discount in a year. Reviewers can avail 50% discount on one articlesubmission for two non – anonymous reviews they carry out for us.

Can authors modify the article?

Once an article has been published, authors will not be able to modify it. Authors should hence completely check the article and pdf before final submission. They are however allowed to submit revised versions of the article. In such cases, all versions of the article will stay on our website and will be cross linked to each other. We encourage authors to submit revised versions in response to referees suggestions and thus publish revised versions free of charge.

Would you publish all the articles submitted?

Yes, we publish all the articles submitted to us as long as they make a scientific contribution.

What is your peer review policy?

With our innovative method of publishing, peer review takes place only after publication. We aim to ensure that all articles are reviewed by at least two peers.Articles that have attracted satisfactory ratings from two reviewers automatically move to ‘WebmedCentral Peer Reviewed’ category.  We hope that these articles will be indexed by appropriate bodies in near future. Our peer review process is entirely transparent with all reviews being freely available on our portal for the readers. Reviewers can however choose to stay anonymous if they wish. What is your copyright policy?

The articles are open-access and distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are credited. Please refer to our copyright policy for further details.

Are the articles published on WebmedCentral indexed with Pubmed/ Medline?

No. Artices published on WebmedCentral are currently not indexed with Pubmed/Medline. However, all our articles are indexed by Google scholar and OAIster. We are also lobbying in scientific circles to persuade PubMedCentral to include non peer reviewed content and tag it appropriately.

How do I cite my article?

Every article on WebmedCentral will clearly tell you how to cite that article on its web page and pdf.

How will users find my article?

Users can find any article by using general Google search. Our articles are also indexed by Google Scholar and OAIster.

Are the citations of the articles published on WebmedCentral tracked?

Google Scholar is tracking all the articles published on WebmedCentral.

What is the revenue model of this venture?

We are committed to open access and our services are completely free for end users. We charge a nominal article-processing fee of GBP 25 per article.We would aim to keep our charges at an absolute minimum by keeping our costs low (with our automated services) and by generating revenue through sponsorship and advertising from biomedical industry. You can support and help us in this endeavour by using our services, scientifically reviewing as many articles as possible on our website and by encouraging your peers to publish with us.

We are a group of medical and management professionals with no affiliation to any major biomedical publishing group. Please refer to our about us section for further details.

Can I unpublish my article?

Articles once published on WebmedCentral cannot be published. Moreover articles once published on our portal are submitted to permanent archives and Google Scholar. Hence it would be difficult to remove all traces of an article anyway. Authors can submit revised versions if necessary. WebmedCentral, however,reserves the right to unpublish any article at its sole discretion if the contents are found to be unscientific, incorrect, in violation of any copyright laws, or otherwise unsuitable for publication on WebmedCentral.

Do you have an Editor or Editorial board?

Yes, we have a team of editors for each speciality on our portal.

Are the articles in WebmedCentral archived?

All the articles in WebmedCentral are archived in an OAI-PMH compliant repository (http://archives.webmedcentral.com). We are registered with http://www.dspace.org; http://roar.eprints.org; http://www.openarchives.org and http://www.oclc.org. This ensures the articles are permanently archived and widely accessible.

Can I submit my articles published on WebmedCentral to other journals?

WebmedCentral allows authors to keep copyrights to their work so you are free to publish your work elsewhere for a more targeted audience. However, you must disclose to the other journals that you work has been published on WebmedCentral as many journals do not accept work published elsewhere.

What is the point in publishing an article on WebmedCentral if it is not indexed with PubMed?

Pubmed is not the only way to find scientific content. Increasingly people are using Google Scholar and Google search engine to look for it. Indeed Pubmed indexes only about 5000 odd peer reviewed journals out of 25000 or so that get published around the world. Furthermore, all our content is open access which should further improve access and visibility.

For Reviewers

How do I become a reviewer?

Any scientist can review an article in their specific area of interest. They will however need to register before posting any reviews. This is to maintain transparency in scientific communications. Reviews can also be posted anonymously if reviewers so wish.

How do I become an editor?

During the login process, you would have an option to become an editor in your field of interest. You would be asked to provide references of relevant publications in the field to help us with our editorial selection process. You can also apply to become an editor by changing your profile settings under my profile. 

How do I choose reviewers for an article?

During article submission, authors are required to submit the details of at least five referees from our editorialboard. You can choose appropriate referees by visiting their profile or using a key word search appropriate to the research being submitted.However, you may invite more to generate a wider debate around your work.

What happens if the author chosen reviewers do not respond?

You will be requested to submit details of more reviewers and if even that is unsuccessful, WebmedCentral will invite more reviewers.

What is the incentive for reviewers?

WebmedCentral applauds scientific reviewers for their selfless contribution to the progress of science. We aim to encourage such magnificent scientific traditions. Hence, we post all reviews in a transparent manner so that the scientific credits can be placed clearly without any bias. Reviewers can however choose to stay anonymous if they so wish. We also recognise some expert contributors as Scholarly Reviewers. Further, all reviews posted on our portal are citable. Reviewers would also be able to publish an article at 50% discount for two reviews they carry out on WebmedCentral.

We are an open access journal and the access to our platform is completely free for all readers. There is however an article processing charge for authors.

Are your articles peer reviewed?

Our articles do not undergo any editorial or peer review prior to publication. Peer Review takes place after the publication in an open and transparent manner. Please refer to our Peer Review policy for details.

Do I have to pay to download an article?

All users can download freely any article on this website. Please refer to our copyright policy for details.

How do I report objectionable or harmful articles or reviews?
