Prof. Hari Mohan Saxena

Brief Biography:


Dr. H M Saxena is a Professor of Immunology at GADVASU, Ludhiana, India. He has earlier served as the Head of the Veterinary Microbiology Department at GADVASU and Counsellor (S&T) in the Embassy of India, Moscow and had stints at NII, N Delhi and IVRI, Izatnagar, India. He is a Senior Expert of the Asia Pacific CEO Association Worldwide. He has been the President of the Indian Society for Veterinary Immunology & Biotechnology. He has a PhD in Immunology from the Nottingham University, UK and has studied Immunology at the University of Cambridge, UK and at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He is a Fellow of the World Innovation Foundation, a Fellow of the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India), a Fellow of the Indian Society for Veterinary Immunology & Biotechnology and a Fellow of the Society for Applied Biotechnology. He received Nehru Memorial Scholarship for doctoral studies and has won four Gold Medals and a Silver Medal in research. He has won the RRK Shukla Award of the Indian Association for Advancement of Veterinary Research and the Rana Memorial Award of the Association of Microbiologists of India. He was a CSIR Visiting Associate at the CCMB, Hyderabad and a Visiting Teacher Fellow of the Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore at CDRI, Lucknow. He has presented several keynote addresses and invited lead papers and chaired sessions at various international and national symposia. He was the President of the ISVIB and a Steering Committee Member of the Science Advisory Board, USA. He is an Editor of the Journal of Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology Research, Regional Editor of the International Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances, Member, Editorial Board of the International Journal of Life Sciences & Pharma and Editorial Consultant of the Indian Journal of Veterinary Research. He is the Principal Investigator of two research projects funded by the top national agencies - The Department of Biotechnology of the Ministry of S&T and the University Grants Commission. Dr. Saxena has filed a patent application for innovative modifications to an immunodiagnostic test to minimize false positive and false negative results in diagnosis of infectious diseases (like Brucellosis). He has published 51 research papers, 1 book published by Verlag DM, 10 chapters in books and 12 review articles and has presented 50 research papers in international and national conferences. He has taught Immunology for 18 years and has guided six MVSc students in Immunology.

Immunodiagnostics, Immunotherapy and Vaccinology of cancer and infectious diseases; Immunoregulation.
