Brief Biography:

Dr Santosh Kumar, an assistant professor of urology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), has developed a new technique wherein bladder cancer patients, who cannot be anaesthetized or have diabetes or uncontrolled blood pressure, can be treated with 80 per cent success rate. The urologist has been able to draw this inference after a period of two years wherein he operated 20 such high-risk patients. His cases were presented at the 31st annual congress of the Societe Internationale d’Urologie held in Berlin, Germany on October 16-20, 2011. “We inserted infant feeding tube and passed a combination of chemotherapy medicines to the bladder,” Dr Santosh Kumar has said, adding, the technique involved patients who had been diagnosed with cancer of the bladder which is confined to the lining of the bladder.
