Brief Biography:

I am a medical biotechnologist, currently working at the Department of Neurological Sciences Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan. My work is focused on studying two neurodegenerative diseases, i.e. Alzheimer (AD) and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), searching for gene/genes involved in both diseases. My studies in Biotechnology Sciences include molecular and cellular biology, human physiology, pathology and genetic courses. To further my understanding of molecular biology and improve my professional preparation I started a PhD program at the University of Milan. As a PhD student, I managed my own project, showing news insights in the genetic aspects of AD and FTLD. During my PhD project, I discovered a new mutation (Gly304Ser) in Exon 10 of microtubule associated protein tau gene (MAPT) in a FTLD patient. My scientific results have led to the publication of 26 peer-reviewed papers and presented in numerous top-level professional conferences.
