Brief Biography:


Hello. I am a medical graduate with interest and career in Medical Education. I am working as a full-time Faculty at Senior Instructor position, for the Department for Educational Development, Aga Khan University since 2008. Currently I am pursuing PhD in Medical Education. My areas of interest are Curriculum Development; e-Learning; Quality Management in Education and Assessment particularly Psychometrics and Standard-Setting in written and performance-based examinations. At AKU, I am involved in: • Standard-Setting for examinations: initiated standard-setting for performance-based examinations as a pilot at AKU in March 2009, currently in the implementation phase. • Development and management of Educational Resources for Faculty of Health Sciences such as Question Data Bank and Standardized Patient Bank. • Faculty development in Health Professions Education: specifically on Curriculum Development, Assessment, Research and Leadership. • Blended Learning Project for AKU: member of the core group to pilot Blended Learning Courses developed and piloted a Teaching and Learning Course on MOODLE. I look forward to interact with the WebMedCentral Community to exchange ideas, share experiences and engage in collaborative research projects.

Senior Instructor, Educational Development. Director, Introductory Short Course in Health Professions Education. Co-Director, Advanced Level Course on Curriculum Development in Health Professions Education. Lead Academic Coordinator, Question Data Bank for Faculty of Health Sciences.

 

Research interests:


My areas of interest are Assessment particularly Psychometrics and Standard-Setting in written and performance-based examinations; Curriculum Development; Quality Management; and E-learning / Blended Learning.

 

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


This will provide an excellent opportunity for researchers to disseminate knowledge, share experiences and ideas, develop further strengths in research areas on interest. For the academic community this will be an excellent open access resource for knowledge, which is much needed, specifically for the under-privileged and developing world.
