1985: Cenci Bolognetti Foundation Prize for the best degree thesis.

1987: Italian Ministry of Education scholarship for molecular biology research abroad

1987-88: Post-doctoral researcher at the Dept. of Thrombosis, University of Temple, Philadelphia, under the supervision of Dr. A. Schmaier

1987-89: Post-doctoral researcher at the Dept. of Pathology, University of Temple,

Philadelphia, under the supervision of Dr. B. Calabretta
