Dr. Henry Tulgan, an experienced CME Professional of many years in the environment of Academic Medical Centers has taken his talents to a different venue—a smaller, non-teaching hospital where there are different, but equally complex issues. He has dealt with some of these issues and has reported that smaller facilities can—indeed, have an obligation—to present quality CME programming for their Medical Staffs. The current environment may cause some providers to contract or even eliminate their CME programs. This is a mistake and Dr. Tulgan has shown us that it is possible for robust CME activities to continue and that the attendees at them profit greatly from their existence.

Other Comments:
Conducting CMEs in a non teaching hospital is a good concept as the busy practicing physicians should be adequately informed about the latest and advanced developments and research in their respective fields as they are the ones who are trating a larger portion of the society.

Inspite of their busy duty schedules, if this is implemented in non teaching hospitals, it can boost doctors' competence and help patient management. Then they will not lag behind in acquiring latest medical updates compared to those working in teaching hospitals and will definately help them in providing better health care to the society.

The author should have included few more non teaching hospitals in this study and discuss the involvement of doctors, assessment of any improvement in patient management and difficulties in conducting CMEs.

Other Comments:
The challenges of providing continued medical education in non-teaching hospital is not very great. The biggest hurdle is self motivation among practising doctors. Through the years the clinicians get involved with their practice they often find little time for these activities. Every minute translates into financial gains. Finding financial support for conducting CME's in non-teaching is seldom difficult but to find resource person may be a daunting task.

With regard to this aricle, if the author had described more elaborately about the challenges of conducting CME's it would have been a good article.
