  • Other Comments:

This paper deals with an interesting aspect of medical education. But however there are few observations:

    1. The system of PBL has been introduced in India very recently (2008) (for clinical students)

    2. According to prelimnary evaluation it was found to be highly accepted and enjoyed by students.  It made students who lack communication skills to openly discuss their point of view.  They liked it better than didactic lectures and tutorials. (the responses of both boys and girls were similar)

    3. Students prefering CBL than PBL may be due to the hands on experience they receive from patients as they are not exposed to patients during preclinical years.

    4. The reasons why boys are not very interested in CBL has to be explored.

    5. This study considers a few sessions of CBL compared to PBL with a single batch in a single college, may be it is too early to come to conclusion that CBL is better than PBL.

    6. The topics chosem for CBL may be more interesting than topics of PBL.
