Excellent Overview
Posted by Prof. Joel Wesley Thompson on 23 Nov 2014 11:18:55 AM GMT Reviewed by WMC Editors

  • What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?

Dr. Amitav Banerjee offers an excellent review of HIV prevention in dental practices. I am uncertain if the occupational Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) guidlines recommended are from another's country's guidelines, so my comment is based on the CDC 2014 PEP guidelines used in the USA. All PEP is now 3 drug therapy. The low risk exposure 2 drug therapy has been discontinued. The recommended regimen is Truvada and Isentress for 4 weeks unless the source has known resistance to one of these components.
