The authors review the mucostatic, minimal pressure, selective pressure, and mucocompressive theories. The authors provide helpful proposals for making a proper impression. They state that a clinician should try not to be dependent on the adaptation of form to function.
The authors state that, in a dentateindividual, the natural configuration of the basal seat should not be disturbed by selecting pressure. The authors review the eight basic principles of making impressions. Helpful references are also provided.
