  • What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?

In this paper, the environmental situation for fish culturing has been evaluated in the three selected fish ponds in Nigeria. This study is invaluable, because the fish proteins provide about 55% of the protein intake of Nigerians.

  • Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.

As mentioned in the paper, It is not novel, but it is interesting.

  • Are the claims properly placed in the context of the previous literature?

    Yes

  • Do the results support the claims? If not, what other evidence is required?

    Yes

  • If a protocol is provided, for example for a randomized controlled trial, are there any important deviations from it? If so, have the authors explained adequately why the deviations occurred?

    No

  • Is the methodology valid? Does the paper offer enough details of its methodology that its experiments or its analyses could be reproduced?

Yes. In the paper, the methodology has been presented in details.

  • Would any other experiments or additional information improve the paper? How much better would the paper be if this extra work was done, and how difficult would such work be to do, or to provide?

    No

  • Is this paper outstanding in its discipline? (For example, would you like to see this work presented in a seminar at your hospital or university? Do you feel these results need to be incorporated in your next general lecture on the subject?) If yes, what makes it outstanding? If not, why not?

  • What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?

To findout the water quality suitable for artificial fish culture

  • Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.

This is usual article to report the quality of wayer for suitability of fish culture.

  • Are the claims properly placed in the context of the previous literature?

They claim that no work has been done on this aspect in their country, however there are no works in other countries which are not cited.

  • Do the results support the claims? If not, what other evidence is required?

They are presenting their findings and not quoting any references for their claim.

  • If a protocol is provided, for example for a randomized controlled trial, are there any important deviations from it? If so, have the authors explained adequately why the deviations occurred?

It is time bound analysis for study compare the ponds.

  • Is the methodology valid? Does the paper offer enough details of its methodology that its experiments or its analyses could be reproduced?

    Yes

  • Would any other experiments or additional information improve the paper? How much better would the paper be if this extra work was done, and how difficult would such work be to do, or to provide?

It is aimed at short term study -Pilot report

  • Other Comments:

It is a comparitive study of three ponds for studying water quality to culture artificial culture. In abstract, two ponds are refered, but three ponds are studied. The results are not discussed with other standard paper for fish culture, instead high and low quantity of substances are discussed which is not correct.
