Prof. Khamis Hassan

Brief Biography:


Prof. Hassan has earned a 13-month postdoctoral fellowship for advanced training in Operative Dentistry and Dental Materials research at Marquette University, College of Dentistry, USA in 1985.  He has also earned a BDS degree from Alexandria University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1975; MSD and Doctor degrees both in Conservative Dentistry from Alexandria University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1979 and 1982, respectively.

Prof. Hassan currently works as Professor of Operative Dentistry at King Saud University, College of Dentistry.  He had several visiting academic positions including a Visiting Professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences, in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, Canada from June to August 2007; as well as a Visiting Professor at the Dental School, Faculty of Health Sciences, in the University of Adelaide, Australia from June to August 2004, and from June to August 2005.

Prof. Hassan teaches restorative dentistry in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.   He has also supervised and examined several master’s and Doctor’s theses and dissertations.  He has several publications and conference presentations nationally and internationally.

Prof. Hassan has held several administrative positions including; Head of Operative Dentistry Division at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia from Feb. 2001 to July 2008; Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura Univ., Egypt from March 1999 to Feb. 2001; and Chairman of Conservative Dentistry Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University, Egypt form Aug. 1997 to Feb. 2001.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


WebmedCentral is an excellent post-publication review biomedical web portal.  It was launched in July 2010.  It aims to eliminate bias, increase transparency, and empower authors.  It also aims to improve speed and accountability, and encourage free exchange of ideas.
