Dr. Justin Fendos

Director
Dongseo University Global Biotechnology Program

Brief Biography:

I have earned my PhD in cell biology from Yale University. I have been involved in a number of different research projects: most notably, I have published works in cancer research and vesicle trafficking. I also have considerable experience in basic cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics. In addition, I have a significant interest in Chinese medicine. My mother is a licensed Oriental medicine doctor and so the topic of Chinese medicine is naturally of interest to me.

Academic positions:

I am a professor at Dongseo University in Busan, South Korea. I am the director of the Global Biotechnology Program. Our department consists of a diverse array of faculty: faculty whose research involves stem cells, regenerative medicine, oceanic plants, and biophysics.

Research interests:

Most of my personal research interests are geared towards the basic sciences. I am particularly interested in cancer research, regenerative medicine at the cellular level, and organelle biology such as vesicle trafficking. I am the primary research adviser at our university, aiding Korean faculty in the design and execution of their own research projects. Therefore, my interests and occupational reach are considerably wider than most other people in the field.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

I firmly believe that scientific discoveries and the fruits of scientific labor should be made public domain information. Therefore, I am always a fan of any system that tries to make that information more accessible to the public.
