Brief Biography:

Dr. Galli D.D.S., PhD entered the Ph.D. program in Physiopathology and Genetics of Bone  Metabolic Diseases at the University of Parma in 2005. He was Visiting Scholar the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2005 under the supervision of Dr. R.L.Jilka and Dr. X.D.Chen and worked as Post Doctoral Fellow in Endocrinology at the same institution in 2006 through 2008, under the supervision of Dr. C.A.O’Brien. His interests were the molecular mechanisms that control bone resorption, the role of osteocytes in the control of bone turn-over and the differentiation of the cells of the osteoblastic lineage. He was recipient of the Young Investigator Award at the Meeting of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research in 2007 for his work on the regulation of RANKL gene. He graduated as Ph.D. doctor at the university of Parma in 2008. He attended the Master in Research Methodology Clinic at the University Hospital of Parma in the academic year 2009-2010. In 2010 he was Visiting Scholar at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, School of Medicine, in Prof. Teresita Bellido’s laboratory, where he collaborated with Dr. Xiaolin Tu and investigated the role of osteocytes in bone response to mechanical loading in models of genetically modified animals. He is currently employed at the University of Parma, in the research group of Prof. G. Macaluso at the Dept. of Head and neck surgery and collaborates with Dr. Giovanni Passeri at the Dep. Internal Medicine focusing his research on the biological effects of implant surfaces and strategies for bone regeneration. He is currently Consultant Professor of Periodontics and mineralized tissues regeneration at the Dental School and at the School of Health Biotechnology, University of Parma.
