Brief Biography:
Born in Athens, Greece, in 1953.
High school graduate of Athens College. Studied Chemistry at the University of Thessaloniki (1973-1978) and obtained M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from University College London (UCL), London, UK (1978-1984).
Appointed Honorary Research Assistant and Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dept. of Biochemistry, University College London (1983-1985).
Research Associate at the National Hellenic Research Foundation, head of a research group studying human gene expression (1986-1991).
Moved to the private sector, in the field of laboratory diagnostics, where the most notable achievement was his work on DNA Profiling technology and the establishment of the Forensic DNA Laboratory of the Greek police.
During the last 8 years he is at InterGenetics – Diagnostic Genetics Centre.
Member of various international scientific societies has published many original papers in international journals and actively participates as a speaker in national and international meetings and congresses in the field of human genetics.
