Brief Biography:
Dr J Kusari Basu is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist currently working at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital and University of the Witwatersrand. She has two Masters Degrees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is also a Fellow of the College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of South Africa. In addition, she has completed ‘Reproductive Health Research Methodology Course’ conducted by World Health Organization and ‘Principles of Epidemiology in Public Health Practice’ course conducted by Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta. She is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students at this University. She has supervised research projects of a number of Masters students. She is currently Deputy Director of the Wits University Johanna Briggs Institute. She served as a member of National Task Team responsible for developing Fertility Option Policy. She has published and presented in many conferences. Her research interest includes Reproductive Medicine and Health specifically termination of pregnancy, contraception, fertility and infertility and reproductive endocrinology.
