The focus of my research group is to understand the roles of lipids and non-nutritive constituents of foods on type II diabetes, and coronary heart disease, and to study the mechanisms behind their cellular transport and effects on cellular growth, function and metabolism. To this end my group is involved in two different projects, i) to understand the transport and metabolism of different fatty acids across the human placenta, and the pregnancy outcome and ii) the cardiprotective properties of fruits
