  • Other Comments:

The authors have undertaken a detailed study for understanding the use of alternate medicines. No doubt their conclusions are acceptable based on their survey. However, the study has been restricted to limited numbers. To provide a better illustration of the results, the authors could add graphs and charts. The results could then be ealily interpreted and understood.

Having said these, I compliment the authors for this study. Every such study will add to the existing knowledge.

  • Other Comments:

The question of use of Complimentary Medicine for alleviating stress has mixed results. The fact that 45 (87%) indicated they would not use the product again as compared to 29 (55%) said that the product worked. This exemplifies an inconsistencies incompletely rationalized.

More discussion should be gendered to resolve the inconsistencies in student responses.

As a reviewer not invited, I would like to have evaluated the  questionaire wording given to the students in this paper.

The illustrations could have been ordered in tables or graphics to compare the results of all responses.

There are from 119-134 referenced papers in published peer-review literature with 9-14 review papers that detail factions of stress outcome, treatment, including cause and effect.

This is an interesting survey on the use of complementary medicine among students.

The study is generally well-designed and conducted. However it is not clear why conventional drugs such as paracetamol, ibuprofen and syndol are included. Probably, the participants did not fully understand that the survey was about non conventional remedies.

The title should be more general, I would delete "to alleviate stress related to examination taking", because this is only one of the reasons why they use CM.

Reference list may be improved with more relevant and recent papers.

There are a few small grammatical errors.

According to my opinion, the ms is clear, well-written and interesting. However, I do not understand why paracetamol and ibuprofen were included in the study.

I would suggest the addition of at least two further tables reporting the results and the ingredients of the used herbal remedies.

    Finally, references should be improved.

    Minor points:

pg. 5 I suggest to replace 'chemical effect' with 'pharmacological effect' (Discussion) and 'in a true scientific efficaceous way' with 'with a pharmacological mechanism'

    1. Literature review needs to be more rigorous. Several studies and surveys on the usage of CAM have been performed and they may be briefly mentioned in this article. Further, references are required to be mentioned in relation to the information the authors have provided in the 'Introduction' part.

    2. What was the definition of CAM that was used for inclusion of the participants in this study is not clear because those who took Paracetamol and Ibuprofen have also been included in the study. (Ideally, these participants should have been excluded). Similarly, those who took 'Sleeping pills' should also have been excluded. Were the students really aware of what is meant by CAM?

    3. Results may be better explained with the help of one or two tables. Futher, the ingredients of the most commonly used CAM preparations in this study may be listed.

    4. Most common reason for CAM use cannot be concluded to be the 'stress related to the examinations' simply based on this study as the total number of participants was limited. Moreover, only 13 participants reported CAM usage for examination related stress. Therefore, I suggest that the title of the article may be changed accordingly.
