The title and article confuse the reader into thinking the study applies to all hysterectomy, whereas it only applies to cases of women who needed a hysterectomy for serious issues, even though the article refers to them as BENIGN:  excessive uterine bleeding,  pelvic pain, benign ovarian neoplasm, cervical dysplasia,  carcinoma in situ,  endometriosis, adenomyosis, and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Ofcourse the women werent depressed- The surgery was life saving or improved their quality of life dramatically.

In addition, it is useless to look for depression 4 and 8 weeks after major abdominal surgery because you dont know if the woman is experiencing post op feelings.   In order to make any meaningful conclusions the study would have to follow up 6 months  or a year after surgery

Also, it would have to ask  if their vaginas are prolapsing, which happens even more than a year later,  that is quite depressing.

So the research is meaningless as it stands and no conclusions can be drawn.
