My opinion regarding your article
Posted by Dr. Mohammadreza Vafa on 04 Dec 2011 08:35:10 AM GMT

Dear Dr Bill Misner,

So many thanks for sending me your opinion regarding Drinking Distilled Water versus Tap Water. Your justification regarding Distilled water are very intresting. But as you know, you can prove the adventeges of distilled water in comparison of tap water using an experimental or interventional methods. On the other hand in last paragraph, page 3, you mentioned about the study that the researchers used distilled water in comparison to (not fluid ingestion)at exercise condition. If you want to prove the advanteges of distilled water you should compare distilled water versus tap water in exercise condition and then compere the effects.
Meanwhile, As you know in any part of the world drinking tap water should pass a series of standard qualification test (Microbial, Mineral, contamination, ...) that previously shows that these levels of polution is not harmful for health.
Anyway, quality of life is very important for everybody, and when you talk about distilled water that free from any pollution and very clean. It's make sence that good from the other choice that have pollution, even very rare. but immunologist belive that minor exposure to contaminant is good for maturation of immune system. and as you mentioned in page 3 the minerals in tap water is very small, and if we want to get all the needs of daily calcium requirment from tap water, we should drink 7.4 gallon tap water a day.
Sincerely yours and total respect.
M.R. Vafa

Dear Dr. Mohammadreza Vafa, Your comments are appreciated and well received. Incidently, a professional athlete stated that he recorded 2% faster performances in training and racing when drinking distilled water only as compared with -2% slower performances drinking tap water. The problem with his comment is he never supported his report with data and since his lively-hood funds from winning races, there were no placebo-double-blind protocols in place. Typically endurance athletes mix calories with fluid-replacement drinks during events, one might conclude imposes influence on the hydration-of-choice results. If you ever decide to do a study with exercising subjects with a colleague, consider a joint paper, email me here in USA drbill@omnicast.net Bill Misner PhD

Drinking Distilled Water
Posted by Prof. Jayendra R Gohil on 09 Jan 2012 11:55:46 AM GMT

Distilled water is good and will reduce the diseases of intestine and those due to flurosis or dissolved arsenic in some areas; and research should begin in this. However the trace elements and vitamins (B12) which may be available need to be supplemeted in people who are pure vegetarians.

Dear Professor Gohil, Thank you for your comment, regarding distilled water, even purest toxin-free is no panacea, nor of optimal nutritive order. I agree. Warm regards, Bill Dr. Bill Misner PhD

The author has clearly brought out the differences in the use of distilled water for drinking purposes as compared to the water from other sources. The article highlights the healthy effects of the distilled water. It is interesting to note that the author himself has been drinking distilled water for the last 15 years. While the author has drawn upon the results of previous researchers to compare and contrast the tap water and other waters with the distilled water, the work could be strengthened by further detailed research to make it acceptable for common man. Clinical investigations could lead to enriched data on this topic and hence one can take cue from this article to do further research. The article is well written and it is though provoking. I appreciate the author for this work and i am sure lot more studies can be done before the world accepts the goodness of the distilled water for healthy life!
